Tricks, traps, and secrets of how to plan for replacement of computer systems

Date:

Time:

Place:

Thursday October 21, 2010

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Web seminar

Presenter: George Dunn, President of CRE8 Independent Consultants www.cre8inc.com

Replacing a computer system can be a complicated task. Many times for these older systems there is little or no documentation, outdated processing rules, and issues in design (multiple databases, un-used areas of the system, reports or screens not used).  Add the fact that users may be highly resistant to change, the high risk of successful replacement within projected cost and timeline and - you have quite a project on your hands. This presentation will discuss how to extend the life of older computer data systems, understand porting issues and benefits, evaluate how COTS (off-the-shelf) software can meet requirements, and if required understand how to plan for custom development.  As part of the presentation example case studies will be presented.
